Facial Questions

What does a facial do? Is there more to it than simply feeling good?

Yes! Skincare treatments coupled with great skin care products should not be considered a luxury, but a way of life for anyone who wants to look and feel great. Hydrophilic cleansers, serums, botanicals, and scrubs are products used during our facials to achieve firm, even-toned, glowing more youthful skin. While you do receive a relaxing massage during a facial, that is certainly not the only benefit!

It's my first facial. What should I expect?

That’s awesome, what took you so long? Facials take about 1 hour for your first time to accommodate time for consultation. During a facial, your hairline will get wet please come in without any makeup on your face.

What does "customized facial" mean?

A Customized Facial means we will decide on your treatment based on your skin type and condition. We will also determine the best products to use. We cleanse your skin according to its type and treat for its condition. We have products for all skin types. We’re happy to educate you if you are unsure of your skincare goals during a free consultation. We can create a personalized skincare routine to maintain gorgeous, healthy skin. Please keep in mind that you must receive a facial prior to receiving chemical peels with us.

Can I get a facial if I am pregnant?

Absolutely. With your hormones going crazy, your skin probably is as well. As the baby grows (and you grow more uncomfortable;), we’ll adjust the head of the bed so that you are not lying flat on your back for an extended period.

How often should I get a facial?

Facial frequency depends on the condition of your skin and what your skin goals are. It could be anywhere from once a month to once a week. Also, it’s important to maintain your at-home skincare regime. The best results come about when we work together on your skincare goals and needs. We can’t wash your face every day for you, so get in that bathroom, nourish your skin and let us maintain it!

Will my face get red afterwards?

Everyone reacts differently but the most amazing (and most common) thing about receiving a facial is that you leave the spa glowing, brighter and with refined skin – think of how you look after leaving the salon post blowout. However, if we are treating acne, then with extractions there could be some redness.

Can I wear makeup after my facial?

You sure can. Some people love that post-facial glow and do not feel the need to but your skin will continue to glow even if you apply makeup post-facial.

Product Questions

What products do you use?

Only the best, of course! Seriously though – After 16 years of experience, Sophia has mastered which products work best on the skin. We proudly use and recommend our Sophia Naturals skincare products that are handcrafted in our store. Unlike mainstream skincare products, they don’t contain any self-life ingredients and are always made with organic ingredients. We are also happy to carry Eminence products, a professional skin care line loved by celebrities.

Do I need to wear sunscreen daily?

The NUMBER ONE question we are asked by people everywhere (including estheticians) is, “If you could tell me in one word the one thing to do to prevent aging, what would it be?” Our answer is ALWAYS, “Sunscreen.” We cannot emphasize it enough! Rain, sunshine or snow, you should always use sunscreen during the day. The suns aging rays are always present. We always recommend a 30 SPF and when out in the direct daylight, reapply every hour or two. Keep in mind, that one can get a more intense sunburn from water or snow reflections than just sun alone. Save yourself from aging! When you come in, ask about our organic SPF. Which is also great for hydration.

I have ethnic skin, do you have products for that?

We are inclusive to all skin types and colors!
